Moraine Corporation (Headquarters: Nakano-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Koki Kusaba, hereinafter Moraine), which provides infection control consulting and product introductions, exhibited "HandWe!", a dedicated device that allows users to numerically assess their handwashing results, at the "Centennial Lively Marche" hosted by Kobe Centennial Memorial Hospital (Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture) on June 7, 2026 (Sun).
We Want to Convey the Importance of Hand Hygiene, Especially at a Local Event
The "Centennial Lively Marche," organized by Kobe Centennial Memorial Hospital, was held with the concept of "Where Deliciousness and Health Meet: Connecting the Community Through Medicine and Food," aiming to promote the health of local residents and revitalize the community. As an expert in infection control, Moraine also conducts infection control seminars for nurses and awareness activities on hand hygiene. This time, we agreed with the purpose of the "Centennial Lively Marche" and participated as an opportunity to interact directly with the people of Kobe.
Do Right-Handed People Not Wash Their Right Hand Well? "Scoring" Handwashing
The device used this time was "HandWe!" developed by Moraine. HandWe! is an experiential hand hygiene training device that scores the results of handwashing.
Participants first wash their hands using their usual method. After washing, they hold their hands over the machine, which not only shows remaining dirty areas at a glance but also scores the palms, backs of hands, and both hands across 72 sections, evaluating the handwashing score out of 100 points.
Not only local residents of all ages, from children to seniors, but also food and beverage business operators who had booths at the marche participated, with a total of 33 people experiencing the device. The highest score achieved was 100 points.
Beyond just scoring and having fun, it provided an opportunity for people to become aware of handwashing habits, such as "right-handed people tend to have more residue on their right hand."
Despite the event being held throughout a rainy day, the venue was filled with numerous gourmet booths offering everything from farm-fresh vegetables to artisanal bread and sweets. Many families and local residents visited, saying, "Before eating delicious food, let's master proper handwashing!"
Participant Feedback (Excerpts)
"I was surprised to get a low score when I thought I had washed thoroughly, as dirt remained around my nails and between my fingers. It was good to learn about my habit of not washing my dominant hand well." (40s participant)
"It was fun to see the numbers appear like a game, and my child was engrossed in handwashing. It was also enjoyable for our whole family to compete for scores." (Parent)
"I was reminded of the importance of handwashing, not just for myself but also for the customers of my shop." (Marche vendor)
As a special gift for participants, Moraine provided fans and sweets featuring Moraine's official character, "Moko-chan."
We Want to Continue Conveying the Importance of Handwashing to Everyone
Moraine will continue to create opportunities for people to learn "correct hand hygiene" in a fun way, not only by supporting infection control in medical settings but also throughout the community. By collaborating with Kobe Centennial Memorial Hospital and local businesses, and by continuing activities that allow people to experience the importance of handwashing enjoyably, we aim to raise awareness of infection control and contribute to the realization of a society that protects health.
