Solo Exhibition Celebrating the Release of Mystery Author Katsunori Asabu's First Art Book 'The Art World of Katsunori Asabu' to Be Held at Gallery & Bar 'YON' in Jimbōchō from August 8 (Sat) to 16 (Sun)! Themed Collaboration Cocktails Also Available!

A solo exhibition has been confirmed to celebrate the release of Katsunori Asabu’s debut art book 'The Art World of Katsunori Asabu' (Genkosha, August 10 release), held at the gallery & bar 'YON' in Jimbōchō. The exhibition runs from August 8 (Sat) to August 16 (Sun), 2026. Two talk events are scheduled, and special collaboration cocktails with exclusive gifts will be available throughout the period.

Katsunori Asabu, a renowned mystery writer and painter, gained popularity with weighty works such as 'The Torture of the Fallen Angel' and 'Annihilation of the Gothic Gods' (Hayakawa Publishing). His February 2026 release 'The Demon of the Sealed Mansion' (Seikaisha) has received high praise among orthodox mystery fans. Asabu made his literary debut in 1998 with 'Martyr Catherine’s Wheel' (Tokyo Sōgensha), a mystery novel incorporating his own paintings, and has since published numerous novels centered on painting. He has also held many solo exhibitions as a painter, consistently drawing attention as both a novelist and an artist.

To coincide with the release of his long-awaited first art book 'The Art World of Katsunori Asabu' (Genkosha), which compiles paintings used in his novels, iconic illustrations used on book covers, and unpublished short works, a solo exhibition will be held at the second-floor gallery of 'YON' in Jimbōchō. Visitors can enjoy Asabu’s paintings and experience a series of rare, exclusive events available only during this period.

① Katsunori Asabu will be present on four weekend days.

August 8 (Sat), 9 (Sun), 15 (Sat), 16 (Sun)

② Talk events will be held in the basement event space of 'YON'.

Two sessions: August 8 (Sat) and August 15 (Sat), both at 18:00. Limited to 20 participants per session.

③ Collaboration cocktails will be served at the bar area of 'YON'.

Alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails inspired by Asabu’s representative 'Gothic Revival Quartet': 'Mirror Trap', 'The Torture of the Fallen Angel', 'Black and Love', and 'Annihilation of the Gothic Gods'. Customers who order will receive an original coaster featuring a newly written short story 'Swing Play' and an illustration by Katsunori Asabu.

④ A commemorative postcard set for the release of 'The Art World of Katsunori Asabu' will be sold at Shosen and Horinbo Bookstore.

Set price: ¥1,100 (tax included). Contents: 5 cards including 'The One Woman Left Among Us, Eve' by Katsunori Asabu, 'Fifth' and 'Lamia Massacre' by Yasushi Suzuki, 'The Torture of the Fallen Angel' by PARADISE “D”, and 'Ayori for Whom?' by Takato Yamamoto.

At the end of August, Tokyo Sōgensha will release a new bunko edition of 'Martyr Catherine’s Wheel'. With a new horror novel set for release in the second half of this year, join us for a grand summer festival celebrating the ever-growing momentum of Katsunori Asabu.

'YON' is a gallery & bar located a 1-minute walk from Exit A7 of Jimbōchō Station. Born in 2024 from the renovation of the building formerly housing the manga specialty store 'Comic Takahoka', it is a new cultural hub.

The first floor features a café & bar, the second floor a gallery, and the basement houses 'Chika YON', a high-fidelity listening room. It has been featured in publications such as 'Time Out Tokyo' and is a new cultural landmark in Jimbōchō where food, music, and art intersect.
