Mynavi Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shunsuke Arai) announced the results of the "Survey on Follow-up for Job Offer Recipients," which investigated the experiences of 1,936 individuals in their first to third year as working professionals during their job offer period (from informal offer to pre-employment).

[TOPICS] ◆ Over half of job offer recipients received follow-up "once a month or more" during the offer period. Follow-up content included "providing opportunities for interaction" with other offer recipients and the company. [Figs. 1, 2]

◆ The most favorably viewed follow-up measure was "sharing company newsletters and materials." "Company tours/factory tours" and "interaction/social gatherings with senior employees" also exceeded 80%. [Figs. 3, 4]

◆ Approximately 60% of job offer recipients felt more convinced about joining the company due to follow-up measures. The more types of follow-up measures offered, the higher the satisfaction and conviction tend to be. [Figs. 5, 6]

[Survey Overview]

◆ Over half of job offer recipients received follow-up from the company "once a month or more" during the offer period. Follow-up content focused on "providing opportunities for interaction" with other offer recipients and the company. When asked about the extent of follow-up received from companies during the job offer period (from informal offer to pre-employment), 59.3% responded "once a month or more (total of 'once a week (16.7%)' + 'once every two weeks (15.3%)' + 'once a month (27.3%)')", indicating companies' efforts to maintain relationships at a certain frequency. Furthermore, the most common follow-up content was "offer acceptance ceremony (60.4%)", followed by "interaction/social gatherings with job offer recipients (50.2%)" which exceeded half. This shows that the content of follow-up for job offer recipients primarily centers on "providing opportunities for interaction." [Figs. 1, 2]

[Fig. 2]

◆ Among follow-up measures for job offer recipients, "sharing company newsletters and materials" was the most favorably viewed. "Company tours/factory tours" and "interaction/social gatherings with senior employees" also exceeded 80%.

The most favorably viewed follow-up measure among those received from companies was "sharing company newsletters and materials (83.0%)", followed by "company tours/factory tours (80.1%)" and "interaction/social gatherings with senior employees (80.1%)". Additionally, when analyzed by company employee size*, "work experience/job offer recipient internships (5 days or more)" received a positive impression from 87.8% of respondents in small companies, a difference of 12.4 percentage points compared to large companies (75.4%). Furthermore, similar trends of higher impressions in small companies were observed for "part-time work at the company offering the job (8.4pt difference)" and "role-playing (8.8pt difference)". This may be because in small companies, the assigned department and job content are relatively easier to envision before joining, making the experiences during the offer period more easily connectable to the image of post-employment work, thus enhancing the impression of follow-up measures. * Definitions of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Small Businesses | Based on the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency's guidelines, Mynavi Research Institute categorized companies based on the number of employees into small companies (up to 299 people), medium companies (300-999 people), and large companies (1,000 or more people) for tabulation. [Fig. 4]

◆ Approximately 60% of job offer recipients felt more convinced about joining the company due to follow-up measures. Satisfaction and conviction tend to increase with a greater variety of follow-up measures. Looking at the change in conviction about joining the company before and after follow-up, 24.2% of those who had "low conviction" before follow-up moved to a state of high conviction after follow-up. Additionally, even among those with "medium conviction," 22.4% moved to a state of high conviction, suggesting that the implementation of follow-up measures contributes to an increase in conviction about joining the company. Furthermore, a trend was observed where satisfaction and conviction tend to increase with a greater variety of follow-up measures, indicating that establishing multifaceted points of contact with job offer recipients can influence the formation of willingness to join and conviction. [Survey Staff Comments]

It was found that companies maintain contact with job offer recipients with a certain frequency after extending offers, and engage in relationship building by combining multiple measures such as "interviews," "events," and "information provision." On the other hand, job offer recipients also deepen their understanding of the company and increase their conviction about joining through these opportunities. However, this survey revealed a certain gap between the follow-up content provided by companies and the follow-up content that job offer recipients have a high impression of. It is considered important in designing follow-up measures not only to increase the variety of contact points but also to consider whether the content allows for a concrete image of the company's atmosphere and the reality of the work. Isn't it time to reframe job offer recipient follow-up not just as a "dropout prevention measure," but as an initiative for job offer recipients to form conviction about joining the company?
