Mynavi Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shunsuke Arai), which operates the part-time job information site 'Mynavi Baito' (https://baito.mynavi.jp), held its first collaborative career education workshop for 20 students at Koshien University (Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture) on May 28 (Thu).
This workshop is a hands-on program where students, from the "worker's perspective," proactively identify challenges faced by local restaurants due to labor shortages and recruitment difficulties, and devise solutions. Following lectures from Mynavi and local restaurants, students worked on creating "recruitment posters that make people want to work" as part of their problem-solving efforts.
◆Background of the Event
To date, 'Mynavi Baito' has conducted workshops for 3,874 students at 34 schools nationwide, covering topics such as "the meaning of work," "fundamentals of job selection," and "how to find a job that suits you," as a first step in drawing a career path that is true to oneself. They have also held awareness sessions to protect against illegal part-time jobs.
Currently, the "food service industry" is experiencing chronic labor shortages and struggling with part-time recruitment. In Hyogo Prefecture, with a declining working-age population, the post-COVID recovery in human traffic has exacerbated labor shortages in the food service and tourism sectors. *2
This workshop aims to foster students' problem-finding and problem-solving skills, essential for career development, by using the recruitment challenges of local companies as case studies. It also provides companies with hints for their recruitment activities and new perspectives.

◆Event Details
On the day of the event, students from the 1st to 3rd year of the Faculty of Nutrition at Koshien University, who are learning a wide range of knowledge necessary for careers centered on "food," participated in a program in collaboration with Restaurant Bank Co., Ltd., which operates multiple restaurants in the local area.
Mynavi provided an overview of the recruitment market in the food service industry and the current labor shortage situation in Hyogo Prefecture. Local companies also introduced their company's appeal and desired candidate profiles, deepening the students' understanding of the on-site realities. Subsequently, students were divided into groups, and through dialogue with company representatives, they supplemented their understanding and created recruitment posters with expressions and taglines from an applicant's perspective.
Finally, each group presented their created posters. The poster selected for the grand prize is scheduled to be actually used in the recruitment activities for "Allegro," an Italian restaurant operated by Restaurant Bank.
This initiative provided students with a valuable opportunity to confront real corporate challenges. It served as a catalyst for them to concretely imagine "working" and how to engage with companies, as well as to consider how their own perspectives and learning could be applied in society.

◆Participant Feedback
<Student Comments>
・It was fun and educational to think about poster taglines and other elements as a team.
・It was difficult to think about which words would be easily understood when creating the taglines.
・It was challenging to consolidate the team's opinions, but it was good that we could create taglines while leveraging each other's strengths.
<Comment from Dean Hayashi, Koshien University>
After a lecture on the current labor shortage in the food service industry and key points for recruitment advertisements, students were divided into groups of several people and worked on creating recruitment posters for "Taishu Italian Shokudo Allegro Tsukaguchi Main Store."
Following this, the posters presented by each group were judged, and a first-year group was selected for the grand prize.
This initiative provided students with a good opportunity to cultivate basic social skills such as "thinking ability" and "teamwork," as well as to consider their relationships with local companies and society.
<Comment from Yoshiaki Okamoto, HR Manager, Restaurant Bank>
When I shared the current challenges and issues regarding the labor shortage at Allegro Tsukaguchi Main Store, I was initially unsure if I had conveyed it effectively to the students. However, as the seminar progressed, they analyzed the background and job satisfaction, leading to lively discussions within their teams and the emergence of taglines from new perspectives that we hadn't even considered. Although we selected a grand prize winner, all the posters were truly wonderfully done. We are very much looking forward to seeing who will apply when we actually post them at the store.
<Comment from the Mynavi Baito Workshop Instructor>
This initiative was realized by connecting practical career education at Koshien University with the challenge of labor shortages faced by local companies. In this workshop, based on our assessment tool "MATCH Plus," which fosters "basic social skills," we implemented a program where students re-evaluated the company's appeal from the "worker's perspective" and reconstructed job postings. We believe this provides an opportunity for students to develop their thinking and teamwork skills, and for local companies to gain new recruitment perspectives. In this context, we were able to witness students proactively tackling challenges, which reinforced the significance of this initiative.
Mynavi will continue to work towards a future where individuals can envision their path forward through career education, by addressing the challenges and needs of each school and student.
