What consumers expect from canned chuhai: 'Preferred flavor' is the top expectation at over 40% of drinkers, followed by 'not sweet or low sweetness,' 'enjoyable fruit juice sensation,' and 'refreshing'—each cited by over 30%.
MyVoice Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Shintaro Shimizu) conducted its 18th internet survey on 'Canned Chuhai Consumption' from June 1 to 7, 2026.
The survey asked about consumption frequency, expectations, and non-alcoholic chuhai usage. Below are the results.

◆ Canned Chuhai Consumption Frequency
Over 40% of respondents drink canned chuhai.
Nearly 20% drink it at least once or twice a week, accounting for nearly 40% of canned chuhai drinkers. Among men aged 30–40, the rate is around 50%, higher than other groups, indicating higher consumption frequency.
◆ Canned Chuhai Consumed in the Past Year
Canned chuhai consumed in the past year (multiple responses): 'Kirin Hyoketsu®' at 41.3%, 'Horoyoi' at 30.1%, and '-196' at 25.0%.
'Horoyoi' ranked first among women and is particularly popular among younger demographics.
◆ What Consumers Expect from Canned Chuhai
Expectations (multiple responses): 'Preferred flavor' at 43.6% of drinkers, and 'not sweet or low sweetness,' 'enjoyable fruit juice sensation,' and 'refreshing' each cited by over 30%.
Among those who mainly drink 'Zuiyoku Shibori' or 'Kirin Honshibori™ Chuhai,' 'enjoyable fruit juice sensation' is highly valued. For 'Horoyoi' drinkers, 'low alcohol content' and 'easy to drink' are more frequently cited.
For drinkers of 'Asahi GINON,' 'Kodawari Sakaba Lemon Sour, Takohai,' and 'THE PEEL,' 'not sweet or low sweetness' and 'refreshing' rank in the top two.

◆ Intent to Drink Canned Chuhai
Those who 'want to drink' or 'somewhat want to drink' canned chuhai total nearly 40%.
Slightly higher among men aged 40–50, and among those who drink canned chuhai more than 2–3 times per month, the rate reaches the 90% range.
◆ Reasons for Wanting to Drink Canned Chuhai
Reasons (multiple responses): 'Easy to drink casually' at 50.9% of those interested, followed by 'delicious,' 'has my favorite taste or flavor,' and 'affordable price'—each in the 40% range.
'Affordable price' is more popular among men, while 'favorite taste or flavor,' 'fruit juice sensation,' and 'relaxing' are more popular among women. 'Delicious' and 'favorite taste or flavor' are particularly favored by younger generations.
◆ Non-Alcoholic Canned Chuhai Consumption
Nearly 20% of respondents drink non-alcoholic canned chuhai.
When asked about their mindset while drinking, 6.4% said they drink it 'as a substitute for canned chuhai,' while 5.4% each said they drink it 'with the same mindset as regular chuhai' or 'as a different beverage from chuhai.'
Among non-alcoholic canned chuhai drinkers, about 35% use it as a substitute for alcoholic chuhai.
