Announcement of Adoption for 'B.LEAGUE×Japan Foundation Community Development Grant' and 'B.LEAGUE Hope・Japan Foundation 'Disaster Prevention×Community Model Business' Grant

We are pleased to announce that we have been selected for the grant programs, 'B.LEAGUE×Japan Foundation Community Development Grant' and 'B.LEAGUE Hope・Japan Foundation 'Disaster Prevention Community Model Business' Grant,' implemented in collaboration with the Japan Professional Basketball League (B.LEAGUE) and the Japan Foundation. Notably, this marks the second consecutive year of selection for the 'B.LEAGUE×Japan Foundation Community Development Grant.' Grant Provider: Japan Foundation B.LEAGUE×Japan Foundation Community Development Grant Theme: Sustainable Community Formation with Basketball Community as the Hub Aiming for sustainable community formation, we will create a 'Symbiotic Community Development Platform' by leveraging the assets of professional clubs for regional transitions of club activities, fostering leaders to address social issues, and generating funds to support various regional activities. For details of the first-year project, please refer to the following: d171266-77-5e033fed74f5d55e9b56836b3b43cd90.pdf B.LEAGUE's Vision for Community Development Since the signing of the collaboration agreement in January 2017, B.LEAGUE and the Japan Foundation have been co-creating various social contribution activities under the 'B.LEAGUE Hope (B.Hope)' initiative, including disaster recovery support and bridging experience gaps. Starting in the fiscal year 2025, the 'B.LEAGUE×Japan Foundation Community Development Grant' supports not just one-off events but ongoing community development initiatives led by clubs, engaging local residents, municipalities, and local businesses. In its second year, this program will strongly promote the concept of 'People Gather, People Move, People Grow' by utilizing arenas, practice facilities, and vacant urban spaces for daily hub development (People Gather), enhancing circulation (People Move), and fostering next-generation talent (People Grow). By combining disaster prevention with 'Regional Activities as an Alternative to Club Activities,' we will create opportunities for proactive learning about disaster prevention for junior high school students in the community. Through events, we will promote health management and the establishment of visible relationships, aiming to create a community system that can immediately respond to disasters. What is the Disaster Prevention×Community Model Business? Under B.LEAGUE Hope (B.Hope), we have been widely implementing the program 'B.Hope Disaster Prevention Basketball Defense Action,' which combines the fun of basketball with disaster prevention knowledge, as a preparation for disasters that can occur anytime and anywhere. Last year, as part of the grant program, 29 B.LEAGUE clubs implemented this program at 137 elementary schools nationwide, with 5,098 participants. Moving forward, while continuing to promote disaster prevention education for children, it is necessary to deepen collaboration with municipalities and community organizations and develop initiatives that are deeply committed to regional characteristics and disaster risks. Against this background, we aim to create a business model for 'Disaster Prevention×Sports' that leverages the influence and involvement of clubs, collaborates with diverse stakeholders, and addresses disaster prevention challenges faced by administrations and communities.
