Child giving hand esthetic treatment to a parent

Narisu Cosmetics Co., Ltd. (President: Hirokazu Muraoka, Head Office: Fukushima-ku, Osaka City) opened an esthetic salon at Kandu Dainichi (Moriguchi City, Osaka Prefecture), the first job-experience theme park in western Japan, which opened on December 20, 2025. The number of child participants in the esthetician experience program surpassed 6,000 by the end of May, just six months after opening. Previously, only one-piece dress-style uniforms were available for participants. However, due to increasing requests from boys who wanted to join but felt uncomfortable wearing dresses, the company will introduce a new jacket-style uniform starting July 21, offering children a choice of attire. By providing the experience of being an esthetician—a role focused on healing and caring for others—regardless of gender, Narisu aims to support children in envisioning their future careers.

Grooming and communication skills for “healing others” The experience offered at the salon involves a hand esthetic treatment using cleansing toner, with parents role-playing as customers. Participants use the same specialized skincare products as professional estheticians. However, the goal is not merely to teach hand esthetic techniques, but to instill the values of preparation, thoughtfulness, and empathy toward others. Staff provide lessons on skin structure, while also emphasizing the importance of personal grooming, greetings, and polite language. Feedback from participants includes heartwarming comments such as, “Mom’s hands became smooth and beautiful—so glad!” (4-year-old girl), “I want to do this at home too” (5-year-old girl), and “I think I understand how Mom feels” (7-year-old boy). Originally, only one-piece uniforms were designed for children aged 3 to 15. After launching the service, however, the company received far more requests from boys than anticipated, with many expressing, “I want to experience it, but I don’t want to wear a dress.” In response, Narisu has introduced the jacket-style uniform, allowing children to choose based on personal preference regardless of gender, effective July 21.

Narisu’s commitment to esthetics

Founded in 1932, Narisu began its esthetics research in the 1950s by sending researchers to Europe. Since opening its first “Narisu Skincare Salon” in Kobe Sannomiya in 1974—over half a century ago—the company has accumulated expertise in esthetic devices, cosmetics, and techniques. It also operates “Narisu Beauty Creation College Predage,” a beauty school that trains estheticians and supports employment and self-fulfillment through beauty careers. Additionally, since the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, the company has conducted volunteer hand massage activities, continuing through disasters such as the Kumamoto and Noto Peninsula earthquakes. These initiatives have been adopted into disaster drills and SDGs education programs in elementary and junior high schools, expanding their social impact. Narisu’s participation in Kandu Dainichi stems from its desire for children to experience the warmth of human touch, the importance of hygiene and cleanliness, and the sense of trust and accomplishment gained through proper grooming.

What the “Esthetician” experience includes:

• Changing into esthetician uniforms and styling hair and grooming • Learning customer interaction, greetings, skin care knowledge, and hand esthetic techniques • Children performing actual hand esthetics on their parents The program offers a hands-on, sensory learning environment where children can feel the joy of “becoming beautiful” and “making others beautiful” through communication and cosmetics. As a reward for their work, children receive a “Beauty Set” containing lip balm and an original hair comb, allowing them to continue the experience at home.
