Chung Hwa Commercial Bank (CHB) is deepening its presence in high-net-worth wealth management and actively supporting the Asian asset management hub policy by announcing a partnership with EQT, a world-leading alternative asset management firm based in Sweden. Through this collaboration, CHB will exclusively introduce EQT’s value-add infrastructure investment strategy to qualified high-net-worth clients in Taiwan. According to the '2026 Taiwan Ultra-High-Net-Worth Client Wealth Insights Report' jointly conducted by CHB and Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the number of high-net-worth individuals in Taiwan is projected to grow to 155,000 by 2029. In response, CHB is launching a global alternative asset allocation solution to provide eligible clients with more diversified investment options.

The Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) opened the door in 2022 for banks to invest via trusts in 'offshore funds not structured as securities investment trusts.' Last year, a pilot program was launched in the Kaohsiung Asset Management Zone. Since then, CHB has been progressively partnering with top-tier international alternative asset managers. To expand access to global alternative investment opportunities, the value-add infrastructure investment strategy launched with EQT focuses on structural shifts driving investment opportunities—particularly in next-generation sectors such as digital infrastructure, energy transition, and transportation, which benefit from strong policy support and industry transformation. This strategy enables investors to capture long-term capital appreciation from Europe’s net-zero emissions policies, rising data center computing demands driven by generative AI, and opportunities in energy storage and energy resilience.

Founded in Sweden in 1994, EQT is one of the largest private market institutions globally, managing €270 billion in assets. With Nordic heritage and a global mindset, EQT has spent over 30 years actively fostering enterprise development and value creation across diverse regions, industries, and strategies. In infrastructure, EQT specializes in value-add investment strategies, actively participating in company operations to create and enhance enterprise value.

Sueann Yeo, Head of Private Wealth Management for Asia Pacific at EQT, stated, 'Taiwan is one of the most attractive private wealth management markets in Asia. Through our partnership with Chung Hwa Commercial Bank, we aim to bring our infrastructure investment expertise to qualified high-net-worth and family office clients in Taiwan. The structural themes underpinning EQT’s value-add infrastructure strategy—from energy transition to digital infrastructure—are increasingly important for long-term investors in the current macroeconomic environment.'

CHB has introduced investment strategies including hedge funds, private credit, private equity secondaries, and private infrastructure. Leveraging infrastructure’s characteristics—such as inflation resilience and low correlation with traditional stocks and bonds—CHB, in partnership with the world-class institution EQT, aims to help qualified high-net-worth clients optimize asset allocation and achieve long-term wealth preservation and succession.
