Taiwan Stock Market Closed on July 10 Due to Typhoon; 23 Stocks Including Novatek and CTBC Financial Postpone Ex-Dividend Dates

Due to the impact of Typhoon Bavi, the Taipei City Government announced the suspension of operations for all public and private institutions. The Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) and GreTai Securities Market (TPEx) jointly announced that both the centralized market and the over-the-counter (OTC) market will be closed on Friday, July 10. All settlement and securities delivery procedures scheduled for that day will be postponed accordingly. With the entire Taiwan stock market suspended, the ex-dividend and ex-rights trading dates for 23 listed, OTC, and Emerging Stock Board stocks originally scheduled for July 10 will be uniformly postponed to the next trading day, Monday, July 13.

According to the announcement, key benchmark stocks originally scheduled for ex-dividend on July 10 include Novatek (3034-TW), a major driver IC manufacturer, which will distribute a cash dividend of NT$23 per share; Yu-Chun (3217-TW), a leading connector manufacturer, distributing NT$10 per share; and CTBC Financial Holding (2891-TW), a favorite among dividend investors, distributing NT$2.5 per share.

The TWSE reminded investors that due to the market closure caused by the typhoon, all related procedures—including the calculation of ex-dividend/ex-rights reference prices, forced short-selling restrictions converted to book-entry, and securities settlement following the last purchase date—will be fully postponed to the next trading day, July 13. Investors’ rights and interests remain fully protected.

As Taipei City declared a typhoon-induced work suspension, all banks, financial institutions, and the Check Clearing House across Taiwan suspended operations, preventing stock agency banks from conducting interbank transfers and check exchanges as scheduled. Consequently, cash dividends originally scheduled for disbursement on July 10 will begin to be credited to investors’ securities settlement accounts starting July 13.
