MediaTek (2454-TW) announced today (10th) its June revenue reached NT$58.012 billion, representing a 22.3% increase month-over-month and a 2.8% increase year-over-year. Second-quarter revenue totaled NT$1,521.83 billion, up 2.03% quarter-over-quarter and 1.21% year-over-year. Cumulative revenue for the first half of the year reached NT$3,013.33 billion, down 0.77% year-over-year. Benefiting from stronger-than-expected customer demand, MediaTek's Q2 revenue surpassed its financial guidance high end, reaching its highest level in five quarters.
MediaTek had initially forecasted Q2 revenue of approximately NT$140.2–149.2 billion (assuming a USD/TWD exchange rate of 1:31.5), representing a 0–6% quarter-over-quarter decline and a 1–7% year-over-year decline. However, actual results reached NT$152.1 billion, significantly exceeding the high end of its forecast.
MediaTek's first ASIC business is expected to enter mass production in the second half of this year, contributing approximately $2 billion in revenue during the fourth quarter. From 2027 onward, related revenue is projected to expand to several billion dollars.
MediaTek has recently achieved multiple milestones in its ASIC business, securing Google's V8-generation order and reportedly winning the exclusive contract for the V9-generation 2nm inference chip 'Trigger fish'. This positions ASIC as a key growth driver for the company in the coming years, drawing significant market attention to MediaTek's ASIC progress.
