Google Updates Lightweight Gemini Model Lineup, Flagship Pro Release Date Still Unannounced

Alphabet (GOOGL-US) subsidiary Google on Tuesday (21st) released three lower-cost Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) models, but the flagship version Gemini Pro, which has been delayed for several weeks, Google has not yet announced the specific release date.

The new model lineup Google has launched includes Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, both of which are upgraded versions of existing lightweight models, primarily targeting application scenarios that do not require the most advanced AI capabilities.

In addition, Google also announced a brand-new lightweight model Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber, which has been specifically enhanced for network security applications.

Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber is designed specifically for detecting and repairing software vulnerabilities and will initially be available only through limited access test projects to government agencies and trusted partners. Google states that compared to larger models, this specialized model has a lower token operating cost.

This model is expected to help Google narrow the gap in the network security AI field with Anthropic. The latter, leveraging automated code defense technology, has already established a first-mover advantage in the field.

However, the market's focus remains on the release date of Gemini 3.5 Pro. As the top model in the Gemini series, this product is seen by Wall Street as a measure of whether Google's DeepMind artificial intelligence laboratory can continue to catch up with Anthropic and OpenAI.

Google states that the model is currently being tested with partners and will be launched in the 'near future.' Google said that the training work for the next-generation model Gemini 4 has already begun.
