Wistron (3231-TW) officially opened its new D1 factory in Texas, USA on July 22 (Taiwan time), with NVIDIA (NVDA-US) CEO Jensen Huang in attendance. Addressing concerns about potential over-investment in AI, Huang emphasized that as AI becomes smarter, more people will use it, driving even greater demand. Chairman Lin Hsien-Ming also expressed strong confidence in AI's future development and revealed that due to robust demand, planning for the D2 factory has already begun. This news propelled Wistron's stock to rise nearly 28.78% this week, successfully filling its dividend gap and attracting massive foreign buying exceeding 150,000 shares.

Wistron's stock climbed 28.78% this week, went ex-dividend on July 8, and completed filling the dividend gap by Wednesday (July 22), achieving the milestone in just 10 trading days. On Friday (July 24), the stock closed at NT$179, holding above all moving averages. Foreign investors aggressively bought Wistron shares for five consecutive trading days, accumulating a net purchase of 154,900 lots. The three major institutional investors collectively bought 169,400 lots this week.

The Texas D1 factory, invested at nearly $700 million, spans approximately 324,000 square meters and primarily handles orders from NVIDIA. Wistron announced that the first NVIDIA GB300 computing baseboard in the United States was produced here, and the next-generation Vera Rubin products are also expected to ship from the D1 facility. Chairman Lin added that the current workforce at the Texas D1 factory ranges from 400 to 500 people, with plans to increase to 1,000 by year-end.

General Manager Lin Chien-Hsun further stated that due to continuously strong demand, planning for the D2 factory has already commenced. The D2 factory will be twice the size of D1 and may introduce L10 and L11 manufacturing processes, allowing it to serve customers beyond NVIDIA. It is expected to begin operations next year. Moreover, if demand remains strong, the construction of a D3 factory is not ruled out.
