Iran's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned on Saturday night, May 25, Ukraine's attack on an Iranian cargo ship in the Caspian Sea, reporting one death and one injury as a result of the assault.

The ministry described the incident as an 'act of aggression' and affirmed its determination to firmly safeguard national interests and security. It accused Ukraine of attempting to expand the scope of the Russia-Ukraine war and warned that the Ukrainian regime and its supporters would bear consequences for the attack.

On the same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian forces had targeted a Russian warship and several vessels transporting military-related supplies linked to Iran in the Caspian Sea. Kyiv suggested these ships were potentially used to support Russia's war efforts through Iranian-supplied arms or logistics.
