The global notebook and personal computer industry is showing strong signs of recovery. Analysts indicate that with the official start of the traditional PC peak season in the third quarter, shipments of notebooks, motherboards, and servers are rising simultaneously. Overall industry revenue is expected to grow 6% compared to the second quarter, with optimistic business outlooks for the second half of the year.
ASUS (2357-TW) entered a minor peak season for second-half notebook shipments in Q2, and with robust demand for AI servers, achieved quarterly revenue growth of 24% quarter-on-quarter and 39% year-on-year—exceeding expectations. As it moves into the traditional peak season in Q3, server and end-product shipments are expected to continue rising, driven by the launch of next-generation products.
In edge computing and AI product development, MSI (2377-TW) and NVIDIA have jointly developed the on-premises AI flagship device, RTX Spark, which is set to officially launch in Q4. The high-spec version is priced under $3,000, and initial production capacity has already been fully pre-ordered by channel distributors. Market demand far exceeds expectations, making it a key driver for edge computing applications from the second half of this year into next year.
MSI states that the new device successfully reduces power consumption while maintaining 1000 TOPS of high-efficiency computing performance. Desktop and laptop versions are capped at 140W and 80W, respectively. The first model equipped with a 128GB high-spec memory can smoothly run high-density language models, generating meeting minutes from one hour of audio in just three minutes—significantly improving work efficiency. Strong sales momentum is expected to continue after its second-half launch.
Acer (2353-TW) benefited from price increases in end products and strong customer pull-in orders, achieving 18% quarter-on-quarter and 28% year-on-year revenue growth in Q2. Facing the traditional peak season in the second half, the company forecasts another 6% quarter-on-quarter revenue increase in Q3. Acer is also actively pursuing diversification, continuously increasing the revenue contribution of its subsidiaries to strengthen long-term profitability.
Looking ahead to the second half and long-term trends, in addition to traditional peak-season inventory demand, AI agents and edge computing have become core development directions for the PC industry. As brands roll out new AI PC models with higher prices and higher margins, the optimization of product portfolios will gradually become evident, providing sustained growth momentum for major brands.
