On July 24, the Taiwan stock market pulled back again. Among the top ten stocks by trading volume, only Wistron and inverse ETFs held above the flat line. Further analysis of institutional investor activity since July 17 reveals that Wistron ranked first in foreign investor net buying for two consecutive days and remained in the top ten daily throughout the first four days of the week. This indicates robust foreign buying momentum, driving Wistron’s stock price to rise for five consecutive days since July 17, which in turn boosted the performance of Taiwan ETFs holding Wistron as a component.
Among Taiwan ETFs, 41 funds hold Wistron, with 10 holding more than 5,000 shares. Since July 17, these 10 ETFs have delivered total returns (including dividends) ranging from 5.9% to 2.57%. Six of them have particularly stood out, all achieving returns above 4%: Cathay Taiwan Tech Giant (00881-TW) at 5.9%, Kaiji Taiwan TOP50 (009816-TW) at 5.6%, Fubon Technology (0052-TW) at 5.18%, Fubon Taiwan 50 (006208-TW) at 4.46%, Yuanta Taiwan 50 (0050-TW) at 4.38%, and Dahua High-Yield High-Dividend 30 (00918-TW) at 4.32%.
Market analysts note that this market volatility stems primarily from valuation corrections, triggered by large-scale deleveraging in the South Korean stock market, which led to shifts in market sentiment and capital flows. Stocks that had risen significantly year-to-date faced greater pressure. However, from a fundamental perspective, AI demand has not reversed. Taiwan's leading AI growth stocks posted record-high revenues and profits in Q2. Recent financial reports and capital expenditure plans from major global AI firms continue to reach new highs, indicating that the trend of AI infrastructure investment and corporate profit growth remains intact.
The research team of Kaiji Taiwan TOP50 (009816-TW) ETF stated that the long-term bullish trend driven by the AI industry revolution has not reversed. However, the era of broad-based AI stock rallies is over. As the market enters a valuation adjustment phase, capital rotation is expected to accelerate, shifting from pure thematic speculation toward companies with 'substantive earnings support'.
Under stricter market scrutiny of companies' ability to convert capital expenditures into profits, semiconductor firms with monopolistic positions, key component suppliers, and vertical AI application leaders are more likely to stand out. These companies warrant continued attention. Investors can accumulate more positions during market corrections through continuous investment, no-dividend payouts, or dividend reinvestment, potentially leveraging compounding effects in the next growth cycle.
