The Research Center for Taiwan Economic Development at National Central University announced today (27) the July Consumer Confidence Index (CCI), with the composite index at 64.58 points, down 0.47 points from the previous month. All six survey indicators declined, with the most significant drop in "timing for investing in stocks over the next six months." However, the declines across all six indicators were modest, remaining within recent range-bound levels.
All six indicators declined in this survey. The indicator with the largest drop was "timing for investing in stocks over the next six months," at 28.08 points, down 1.82 points month-on-month, though still higher than confidence levels seen in March, April, and May.
The second-largest decline was in "domestic economic outlook over the next six months," at 80.53 points, down 0.34 points. "Household financial conditions over the next six months" stood at 77.42 points, down 0.28 points.
The fourth-largest decline was in "employment opportunities over the next six months," at 72.19 points, down 0.27 points. "Purchasing durable goods over the next six months" was at 93.43 points, down 0.12 points. "Price levels over the next six months" was at 35.82 points, down 0.01 points.
In absolute terms, all six indicators reflect a somewhat pessimistic outlook.
Additionally, the "timing for purchasing real estate" indicator was at 90.13 points this month, down 0.22 points from the previous month.
