The '2026 Japan-Taiwan Image Exhibition,' hosted by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs, concluded on July 17 in Tokyo after a three-day event. According to TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council), this year's exhibition, themed 'Innovate for Tomorrow (Co-Creating a Better Society for Taiwan and Japan),' brought together over 150 Taiwanese companies. The event attracted 22,000 visitors and facilitated $156 million in business opportunities, extending Taiwan-Japan strategic collaboration from semiconductor supply chains to AI digital transformation and green sustainable living.

TAITRA stated that Taiwanese companies showcased their innovation capabilities across digital and green dual transformation, as well as cultural lifestyle sectors, through seven themed zones: AI Smart Manufacturing, Energy Circulation, Smart Cities, Smart Health, Taiwan Excellence, Taste of Taiwan, and the Taipei Pavilion.

The exhibition addressed Japan's current challenges of labor shortages, aging population, and industrial upgrading, presenting multiple practical solutions. In AI digital transformation, CitySmart Technology demonstrated AI facial tracking and human recognition technology that operates without GPUs, becoming a major highlight. Two renowned Taiwanese automation system integrators showcased smart factory and warehouse integration solutions, attracting attention from the Industrial Support Center of Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Japanese officials have planned a delegation visit to Taiwan in October this year to tour factories and exchange technical applications.

In green transformation, Yigao's 'Nano-Ceramic Insulation Film' received material sampling requests from precision material suppliers for application in high-end electronic components. Taiwan Perovskite Solar's 'Next-Generation Perovskite Solar Cells' are being evaluated by Japanese trading companies and port logistics operators for IoT product integration and building-integrated photovoltaics. In the health sector, Shengji Biomedical's contact lens products attracted interest from one of Japan's top three ophthalmology medical groups, with in-depth discussions underway for joint development and OEM/ODM manufacturing.

Beyond robust AI and green technologies, Taiwan's unique 'lifestyle warmth' and food culture also created a sensation in Tokyo. Kuei Shan International from the OTOP Pavilion successfully attracted AEON, Japan's retail giant, with authentic Taiwanese seasonings like Lu Rou Fan, potentially entering Japanese household kitchens and chain restaurant supply chains. This demonstrates the deepening of Taiwan-Japan collaboration from industrial chains to lifestyle and cultural integration.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs stated that in the face of common global challenges—supply chain restructuring, accelerated AI adoption, net-zero transition, and aging societies—Taiwan and Japanese industries exhibit high complementarity. This exhibition has laid a solid foundation for exchange. The Ministry will continue supporting Taiwanese companies in expanding into the Japanese market, promoting technological cooperation and sales alignment, injecting continuous innovative momentum into bilateral industrial upgrading.
