Taiwanese panel giant AU Optronics (2409-TW) announced today (28) the sale of real estate and related facility assets at its Huaya plant to Quanta (2382-TW), with a transaction value of NT$19.7 billion and an expected disposal gain of approximately NT$13.39 billion.
AUO is disposing of two land parcels—Huaya Section 139 and 264-1 in Guishan District, Taoyuan City—and eight buildings including Huaya Section 2-1 Building and associated facility assets. The land area totals 65,200 square meters (approximately 19,700 ping), while the building area amounts to 162,800 square meters (approximately 49,200 ping).
AUO stated that the purpose of this disposal is to align with its strategic focus on an asset-light operating model, to activate assets, and to optimize its financial structure. According to the company’s official website, the Huaya Science Park site housed the L3D (3.5th generation) and L5D (5th generation) fabrication plants.
AUO plans to hold its earnings briefing on July 30. On the day of the announcement, the company’s stock price surged intraday and closed flat at NT$23.90, outperforming the broader market, which plunged over 2,000 points.
