The electronics sector underperformed, with the index briefly plunging over 2,219 points and breaking the 40,000-point level. Only optical lens and memory module manufacturers bucked the trend, while the market closed down 1,564.18 points or 3.76%, marking the 7th largest drop in history, at 40,039.18 points. Trading volume was 1.08 trillion yuan, up nearly 200 billion yuan from the previous day.
