As the primary carrier for cargo transportation, containers are widely used in international trade. Since June, container manufacturing enterprises in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, have suddenly become extremely busy, with exports experiencing a strong rebound.

According to a report by Xinhua News Agency on Tuesday the 28th, a company executive from a container factory in Ningbo stated that 99% of their produced containers are for export. Since entering June, orders have suddenly surged.

Workers have shifted from a single shift to a two-shift system, with daily production reaching 500 to 550 units—doubling the output before May. Production schedules are now booked through November. Container production lines across the Ningbo region are generally operating at full capacity.

If standard containers are the 'barometer' of international trade, then high-tech refrigerated containers serve as the 'thermometer' of global cold chain logistics. This year, China's exports of refrigerated containers have also performed exceptionally well.

In Qingdao, Shandong Province, executives from container manufacturers said they not only produce standard 20-foot and 40-foot refrigerated containers but also customize special refrigerated units based on different countries and transport modes—such as rail containers for the China-Europe Railway Express and air cargo containers for air freight.

Company executives noted that currently, one out of every three refrigerated containers worldwide is produced here. To meet steadily growing demand, production lines continue technological upgrades to enhance automation.

Foaming is one of the core technologies in refrigerated container manufacturing, directly determining the insulation performance of the container body. In the past, quality inspection relied heavily on manual tapping and auditory judgment by workers, depending entirely on experience. Starting this year, companies have introduced acoustic detection model equipment, significantly improving accuracy.

Continuous advancements in production technology, coupled with rising demand for cold chain transportation in international trade, have driven a significant increase in refrigerated container exports.

In the first half of the year, Shandong's refrigerated container exports exceeded 5 billion yuan, accounting for 54.1% of China's total refrigerated container export value. Over 95% of refrigerated containers worldwide are made in China, with China's refrigerated container exports reaching 105.9 billion yuan in the first half of the year—an increase of 7.6% compared to the same period last year.
