According to multiple sources, U.S. space exploration company SpaceX (SPCX-US) is taking measures to ensure its operations and supply chain remain entirely free of Chinese influence.
As reported by Nikkei Asia on Thursday the 30th, insiders say SpaceX has dispatched teams to audit both existing and potential suppliers, demanding that all partners refrain from assigning or hiring Chinese nationals in factories producing goods for SpaceX, and from using systems or equipment manufactured by Chinese companies.
Several industry executives described how meticulously SpaceX scrutinizes suppliers, including inspecting surveillance systems and network equipment within factory facilities. Even if factories are located outside China, any equipment made by companies such as Hikvision or Lianzhou International must be replaced.
"One of the key concerns for SpaceX is whether there are any Chinese managers, employees, or executives present, even if the factory is located outside China," said a senior industry executive with direct knowledge of the matter.
The executive added that SpaceX will cease placing orders if suppliers fail to comply.
Another executive from a SpaceX supplier said, "None of our equipment can use parts supplied by Chinese companies, and our staff and engineers sent to support SpaceX must be non-Chinese citizens. If we fail to meet these requirements, our production lines will not pass the audit."
