Chroma (2360-TW) held its earnings conference today (30th) and released its second-quarter financial report. Benefiting from robust growth in its semiconductor business, the company achieved a net profit of NT$5.123 billion, representing a 33% increase quarter-on-quarter and a 162% surge year-on-year. Earnings per share (EPS) reached NT$12.15, bringing the first-half cumulative EPS to NT$21.27. The company expects this strong growth momentum to continue into the second half of the year.

Chroma's Q2 revenue reached NT$13.529 billion, up 14% sequentially and 100% year-on-year. Gross margin stood at 61%, down 2 percentage points from the previous quarter and 4 percentage points from the same period last year. Operating margin was 39%, down 1 percentage point from the prior quarter and 5 percentage points from the prior year. Net profit was NT$5.123 billion, with EPS at NT$12.15.

For the first half of the year, Chroma reported total revenue of NT$25.389 billion, up 91% year-on-year. Gross margin was 62% (down 1 percentage point year-on-year), operating margin was 40% (up 7 percentage points), net profit reached NT$8.987 billion (up 120% year-on-year), and EPS was NT$21.27.

Chroma highlighted that it achieved record-high revenues for two consecutive quarters in the first half of 2024, primarily driven by strong growth in its two core business segments: Measurement Instruments & Automated Test Equipment, and the Semiconductor Division. Revenues from these divisions surged 136% and 62% respectively compared to the same period last year.

Looking ahead to the second half of 2024, Chroma expects the strong growth momentum to continue. In particular, semiconductor business performance in the second half is expected to surpass the first half, driven by rising demand for system-level testing (SLT) in AI, HPC, and ASIC applications, as well as optoelectronic testing demand in optical communications and co-packaged optics (CPO).
