Samsung Electronics achieved its most profitable quarter in history during the second quarter of 2026. Revenue reached 171.5 trillion KRW, a 130% increase year-on-year. Operating profit surged to 89.49 trillion KRW, up 1,813.8% from the same period last year. The operating margin stood at an impressive 52.2%, while net profit reached 71.62 trillion KRW, with a net margin of 41.8%. Earnings per share (EPS) jumped to 10,849 KRW, a dramatic rise from 737 KRW a year earlier.

For the first half of 2026, combined revenue for the first two quarters totaled 305.37 trillion KRW, with operating profit reaching 146.73 trillion KRW—up 98.7% and 1,191.5% respectively compared to the same period last year.

The primary driver behind this performance surge was the semiconductor business. Centered on demand from AI servers, Samsung's memory division recorded sales of 120.8 trillion KRW, a new historical high. The Device Solutions (DS) division alone generated 89.2 trillion KRW in operating profit, accounting for over 99% of Samsung's total operating profit.

At the same time, R&D investment rose to 16 trillion KRW, a 41% increase from the previous quarter, reflecting Samsung's continued commitment to maintaining technological leadership.

However, the imbalance in business performance remains evident. The DX (Device Experience) division—covering smartphones, TVs, and home appliances—reported an operating loss of 0.8 trillion KRW, as rising component costs eroded profitability in consumer-facing businesses. The strong overall results are heavily reliant on the high-speed operation of the semiconductor engine alone.
