CPC Corporation announced today (31st) that due to escalating geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East, international oil and gas prices continue to rise, significantly increasing the cost of imported gas supplies. In alignment with the government's policy to stabilize domestic prices, CPC will freeze natural gas prices for household and residential users in August, fully absorbing the cost difference to support families, businesses, and service industries across Taiwan, effectively reducing the burden on daily living expenses.
However, for large industrial and power sector users, CPC will implement reasonable price adjustments to balance cost recovery and industrial affordability. Industrial users will see an average price increase of 5%, while power sector users will face a 9.91% hike—nearly a 10% rise—aiming to strike a balance between cost reflection and economic sustainability.
CPC stated that from 2021 to June 2026, it has cumulatively absorbed over NT$140 billion in costs for industrial users. Considering domestic price stability and the overall economic situation, the 5% average increase for industrial natural gas prices remains moderate compared to global liquefied natural gas (LNG) price fluctuations. Even after adjustment, the prices remain far below actual costs, with the shortfall continuing to be absorbed by CPC. For power sector users, to reasonably reflect rising supply costs, natural gas prices will increase by 9.91% in August.
CPC emphasized that despite severe international energy price volatility caused by geopolitical disruptions, it remains committed to freezing residential gas prices to alleviate the operational pressures on ordinary citizens and commercial service sectors. Since 2021, CPC has absorbed substantial costs to stabilize domestic prices and will continue to closely monitor global oil and gas market trends, conducting rolling reviews in coordination with government policies to ensure stable economic operations. Detailed pricing information for each user category is available on CPC Corporation’s official website in the published natural gas price schedule.
