Taiwan Cement (1101-TW) announced today (31st) that all main specifications of its Portland Limestone Cement Concrete have fully obtained the 'Low-Carbon Circular Building Material Certification' from the Taiwan Building Center, becoming the only company in Taiwan to hold both EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) and low-carbon circular building material certifications, helping clients improve sustainable procurement efficiency and reduce project review and documentation preparation costs.
Taiwan Cement stated that for the construction industry, the value of low-carbon building materials lies not only in reducing carbon emissions but also in providing complete and credible environmental information. Taiwan Cement’s Portland Limestone Cement Concrete, certified both internationally and domestically, can serve as key supporting documentation for building assessment systems such as Taiwan’s Low-Emission Building Rating (LEBR), the international Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), and Taiwan’s Green Building Label (EEW), helping construction projects enhance their green and low-carbon building evaluation performance.
Building materials with third-party low-carbon and environmental certification not only help construction projects earn credits in green and low-carbon building assessments but also support technology companies and data centers that require compliance with both international and domestic green building standards. This also helps improve sustainable procurement efficiency and reduce project review and documentation preparation costs.
Since its launch in December 2023, Taiwan Cement’s Portland Limestone Cement Concrete has, as of the end of this June, exceeded 8.81 million cubic meters in cumulative contracted volume, covering 3,516 projects, with cumulative shipments reaching 5.16 million cubic meters. Compared to traditional Type I Portland cement concrete, it has helped Taiwan’s construction industry reduce approximately 1.065 million tons of CO2 emissions, gradually becoming a key building material choice for office buildings, technology facilities, high-rise residences, and other types of projects.
Currently, Taiwan Cement’s Portland Limestone Cement Concrete has been applied to several landmark projects, including the Taipei Fubon Insurance Tower contracted by Tacheng Construction, the ASML Smart Factory in Linkou contracted by ChiGen Construction, and Lianjyue Construction’s Taichung Yuheng Tower, spanning different building types such as large office buildings, smart factories, and high-rise residences.
Taiwan Cement has also completed its supply network across Taiwan, with each sales region capable of stably supplying certified Portland Limestone Cement Concrete according to different project strength requirements. Construction companies, contractors, and technology facility projects no longer need to adjust their original design and procurement plans due to product specifications or supply region limitations and can instead source certified low-carbon materials locally, balancing construction quality, supply stability, and building decarbonization needs.
