Contact lens manufacturer Acuvue (6491-TW) announced today its latest financial report, revealing that cumulative revenue for the first half of 2025 reached NT$4 billion, a year-on-year increase of 24.22%. Post-tax net profit was NT$1.017 billion, with earnings per share (EPS) at NT$13.13, setting a new historical high. Acuvue attributed the strong performance primarily to robust shipments of silicone hydrogel products in the Japanese and European markets, and expects the revenue contribution from silicone hydrogel products to reach 15% by the fourth quarter.

Acuvue's Q2 revenue reached NT$2.114 billion, a 12.09% increase quarter-on-quarter and a 29.93% year-on-year growth. Gross margin stood at 52.98%, down 0.36 percentage points from the previous quarter but up 2.09 percentage points year-on-year. Operating margin was 27.63%, down 1.17 percentage points quarter-on-quarter but up 4.33 percentage points year-on-year. Post-tax net profit reached NT$545 million, up 15.47% quarter-on-quarter and 74.12% year-on-year, with EPS at NT$7.04.

For the first half of 2025, cumulative revenue was NT$4 billion, up 24.22% year-on-year. Gross margin was 53.15%, up 0.17 percentage points year-on-year. Operating margin was 28.18%, up 3.02 percentage points year-on-year. Post-tax net profit was NT$1.017 billion, up 26.7% year-on-year, with EPS at NT$13.13.

Acuvue stated that the primary growth driver in the first half remained silicone hydrogel products, with particularly strong demand from the Japanese and European markets. Regarding the Chinese market, Acuvue noted that its silicone hydrogel products have only recently obtained certification, so they are not expected to make a significant contribution in the short term, but will gradually grow over time.

As of the first half of 2025, silicone hydrogel products accounted for approximately 10% of total revenue. With continued momentum, the company expects this proportion to increase to 15% by the fourth quarter.

Acuvue further mentioned that functional lenses, including toric (astigmatism), multifocal (presbyopia), and trifocal lenses, serve as the second growth engine. These high-end optical products have also grown rapidly in the Japanese and European markets over the past year, contributing approximately 5% to 10% of revenue in the first half.

In terms of production capacity, Acuvue's Daxi plant in Taoyuan has increased its monthly output to 15 million units and is expected to expand to 20 million units in the second half of the year. The Nantong plant in China has raised its monthly capacity to 8 million units. The Vietnam plant is currently undergoing pre-mass production certification and is scheduled to begin mass production and shipments in the second half of 2027.
