Japanese automaker Toyota announced on Friday (30th) that its vehicle sales in the Chinese market reached 115,300 units in June, a sharp 26.9% decline compared to the same month last year. This marks the fifth consecutive month of year-on-year sales decline for Toyota in China.
For the entire first half of the year, Toyota's sales in China totaled 694,700 units, 143,000 fewer vehicles than the same period last year, representing a 17.1% decline.
In its monthly report, Toyota stated that due to factors such as rising gasoline prices, the severe market environment continues, resulting in sales below the previous year's levels.
According to a report by 'First Financial Daily,' import vehicle data shows that Lexus sales from January to June this year reached 70,589 units, with a cumulative decline of 10%, slightly less than Toyota's overall sales drop in China.
Although Lexus has maintained relatively stable performance in the imported luxury vehicle market and remains the top-selling imported luxury brand, starting from the second quarter, imported Lexus vehicles have also entered an accelerated decline.
The latest data shared by Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the Passenger Car Market Information Association (PCMA), shows that Lexus sales in June 2024 reached 10,348 units, declining for the third consecutive month compared to the previous month, and down 40% year-on-year, a 2 percentage point expansion from the previous month.
