The New York Times reported on the 30th that America PAC, a pro-Trump political group supported by Tesla (TSLA-US) and SpaceX (SPCX-US) CEO Elon Musk, is planning to spend as much as $120 million to boost Republican voter turnout in the November congressional midterm elections.

Although historical trends suggest midterm elections typically favor the opposition party, the committee emphasized in a statement to Reuters that Republicans remain confident in retaining their congressional majority and expect to play a pivotal role in voter mobilization efforts.

Andrew Romeo, a spokesperson for the committee, said he was honored to rejoin the team. While declining to disclose spending details, he confirmed a previous Axios report that the group plans significant investments in door-to-door canvassing, digital advertising, and direct mail marketing to energize conservative voters.

This initiative will be one of the largest external financial injections in the 2026 midterm elections, further cementing Musk’s status as one of the most influential financial backers of the Republican Party. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO previously invested heavily during the 2024 presidential election to help Trump and other Republican candidates win.

With Trump’s current approval ratings declining and voter dissatisfaction over the economy rising, the Republican Party faces an 'enthusiasm gap' against Democrats, who are poised to seize control of both chambers of Congress.

Musk’s financial infusion will undoubtedly serve as a major morale booster for Republican voter engagement. According to two sources who spoke to The New York Times, the voter mobilization campaign will span at least eight states, and Musk has already approved a budget of $100 million to $120 million for the project.

Federal campaign finance filings reviewed by Reuters show that the committee has spent $52.3 million since January 1, 2025, and has raised a total of $50.3 million in the current election cycle, with approximately $50 million coming directly from Musk himself.

Under U.S. election laws, so-called 'Super PACs' can accept unlimited donations from individuals and corporations and spend without limits, but they are prohibited from directly coordinating with candidate campaigns.

As the world’s wealthiest individual, Musk has already personally donated over $85 million in this midterm election cycle, including funds directed to America PAC.

Notably, Musk’s rocket and satellite company SpaceX is a major government contractor, with about 20% of its revenue derived from the U.S. government.
