Taiwan's stock market saw a rollercoaster ride this week. After breaking through the 40,000-point mark on Thursday, it surged nearly 3,200 points on Friday, recording the largest intraday gain in history. However, it still closed the week down 535 points, reflecting ongoing market instability.
Amid this turbulence, memory module manufacturers stood out due to their strong first-half profitability and relatively low price-to-earnings (P/E) ratios, becoming a safe haven for capital during the broader market downturn. Transcend (2451-TW) rose 10.98% for the week, Tenx Technology (4967-TW) gained nearly 7%, and ADATA (3260-TW) climbed 4%, all outperforming the overall market.
Transcend reported first-half revenue of NT$32.44 billion, nearly double its full-year revenue from the previous year. Cumulative after-tax net profit exceeded NT$20 billion, reaching NT$20.02 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2,421%, with earnings per share (EPS) at NT$46.63.
Looking ahead, Transcend expressed optimism, stating that with the proliferation of edge computing applications such as robotics, electric vehicles, and AI PCs, demand for high-capacity and high-stability storage modules will remain strong.
ADATA reported second-quarter after-tax net profit of NT$10.4 billion, more than tenfold year-on-year growth, with EPS at NT$32.39, setting a new record for quarterly profit. Cumulative first-half net profit attributable to shareholders reached NT$19.94 billion, up 13 times year-on-year, with EPS at NT$62.46.
ADATA believes that as global AI applications expand, memory supply will become even tighter. The company emphasized its commitment to securing stable supply support from upstream manufacturers to fully capture market opportunities. With growing demand and upward pricing trends, ADATA expects third-quarter revenue to maintain the growth momentum seen in the first half, with overall profitability continuing to advance and setting new historical records.
