Backlight module manufacturer Ruiyi (6176-TW) announced today (3rd) that it has spent NT$374 million to repurchase 4,436 thousand shares of treasury stock, with an average repurchase price of NT$84.35 per share. The buyback was completed within just two trading days, achieving 44% of its target.
Ruiyi plans to repurchase up to 10,000 thousand shares between July 31 and September 30, within a price range of NT$65 to NT$100 per share. The company stated it will continue repurchasing if the stock price falls below the lower limit of the range. The planned repurchase represents 2.87% of the company's total issued shares, and the acquired shares will be transferred to employees.
Ruiyi reported H1 revenue of NT$23.124 billion, down 6% year-on-year. Gross margin reached 21.91%, up 0.25 percentage points annually. Operating profit was NT$2.857 billion, up 24.6% year-on-year, though operating margin declined by 1.37 percentage points to 10.12%. Net profit after tax was NT$1.292 billion, down 28.6% annually, with earnings per share at NT$2.81.
Ruiyi noted that the revenue contribution from automotive products continues to increase, and AI PCs are now adding new growth momentum. In the consumer electronics segment, global supply chain capacity has been squeezed by demand for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) servers, causing delivery delays and price hikes for key components such as logic chips and memory. This has led to order volatility for end products, affecting overall shipments.
Looking ahead to the second half, Ruiyi expects stable prospects for consumer electronics, with resilient demand for backlight modules and revenue contribution expected to remain on par with the first half. Automotive products are demonstrating strong transformation momentum. The company is currently in a transition period between old and new models, showing an overall trend of 'lower volume but higher prices'.
Ruiyi is currently the primary backlight module supplier for three major European automakers—Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi—and has secured multi-year supply contracts. As leading European carmakers roll out new models, the company remains optimistic about its full-year automotive product outlook.
Additionally, Ruiyi sees AI PCs as a new growth driver. In response to the stricter display technology specifications required for high-performance AI PC operations, Ruiyi has successfully entered NVIDIA's RTX Spark AI PC supply chain with its high-brightness backlight modules, which is expected to further optimize its product portfolio.
