Everlight Files LED Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against Nichia in the United States

LED manufacturer Everlight (2393-TW) filed a patent infringement lawsuit on July 30 at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Southern Division, targeting Nichia Corporation. The suit alleges that Nichia's manufactured and sold high-power LED products infringe Everlight’s U.S. Patent No. 7,554,126 for flip-chip LED technology.

In this lawsuit, Everlight’s U.S. Patent No. 7,554,126 covers LED flip-chip and packaging processes. By adjusting the area ratio of the N/P electrodes, the technology ensures strong adhesion between the LED chip and solder, achieving both high heat dissipation and packaging reliability.

This key technology has extremely broad application scope. Beyond flash LED products, it also applies to automotive LEDs, high-power lighting, and display fields, representing a core advancement in LED flip-chip packaging. Regarding U.S. Patent No. 7,554,126, Everlight holds family patents in regions including the United States, Japan, and China.

Everlight states that Nichia’s specific LED products have utilized the technology covered by Everlight’s U.S. Flip-Chip Patent No. 7,554,126. This patent applies not only to optical components for mobile devices but also extends across consumer electronics, lighting, filaments, UVC, automotive optical component LEDs, CSP, backlighting, flash LEDs, and Mini/Micro LED applications.
