German semiconductor giant Infineon Technologies announced its financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2026 (ended June 30) on Wednesday (5th). Benefiting from robust demand in AI data centers and a recovery in the automotive electronics market, quarterly revenue reached €4.172 billion, marking the highest single-quarter revenue in company history. CEO Jochen Hanebeck stated that Infineon has successfully entered a growth trajectory, with positive momentum across multiple target markets.

Financially, third-quarter revenue rose 9% from the previous quarter, primarily driven by the 'Power and Sensor Systems' (PSS) and 'Automotive' (ATV) divisions, which contributed €182 million and €102 million in incremental revenue, respectively. Gross margin improved to 40.8%, while segment result increased to €797 million, with a segment margin of 19.1%.

Although profitability slightly missed some analysts' expectations, the strong revenue performance reflects urgent demand for power management chips in AI infrastructure.

Infineon emphasized that power supply solutions for AI data centers are currently the most critical growth driver. The company has secured multi-year capacity reservation agreements with several leading AI ecosystem customers, with potential revenue reaching several billion euros. Additionally, increased global investment in power grid infrastructure is providing further tailwinds.

In the automotive market, while demand for high-voltage components in electric vehicles remains relatively soft, the trend toward software-defined vehicles (SDV) continues, leading to a clear rebound in automotive orders.

Looking ahead, Infineon forecasts fourth-quarter revenue to rise further to approximately €4.7 billion, with segment margin expected to improve to 23%. The company has set its full-year revenue target at around €16.3 billion.

Strategically, Infineon successfully completed the acquisition of ams OSRAM's sensor product portfolio in July 2026. The company plans to maintain its annual capital expenditure at €2.7 billion, focusing on expanding production capacity at its new Dresden plant to meet long-term demand from AI customers.
