According to Yahoo Finance, AI infrastructure stocks rose broadly on Wednesday (the 12th), following strong earnings reports from AI server hardware manufacturer Super Micro Computer (Supermicro) (SMCI-US) and emerging cloud service providers CoreWeave (CRWV-US) and Nebius (NBIS-US). Demand across all aspects of AI infrastructure—from computing power and AI server racks to liquid cooling technology—is accelerating. As related companies continue to release earnings, the entire AI infrastructure sector is being lifted.
Nebius shares soared after the company reported quarterly revenue above analyst expectations. Supermicro posted its fourth-quarter results, with profits far exceeding analyst forecasts and an optimistic outlook provided.
Shares of emerging cloud providers and AI hosting firms Applied Digital and IREN rose, driven by CoreWeave's earnings report, which showed accelerating demand and a significant increase in backlog orders.
Lumentum's stock jumped over 13%. The manufacturer, which supplies optical and optoelectronic products for data centers, reported fourth-quarter revenue of $1.01 billion, more than doubling year-over-year. Peers Coherent (COHR-US) and Ciena (CIEN-US) also saw substantial gains.

Memory manufacturer Micron (MU-US) gained nearly 5%, while rival SK Hynix (SKHY-US) surged 9%.
As companies increasingly adopt AI, investors have been betting on the so-called 'picks and shovels' trade—investing in firms that provide the foundational infrastructure required for AI technologies. These companies continue to anticipate robust market demand.
Fundstrat noted on Wednesday that among S&P 500 companies that have reported earnings to date, 87% have beaten profit expectations, with the median beat among these 'beat-and-raise' companies coming in at 7% above market expectations.
