Taiwan Mobile (3045-TW) and Jieyuan Energy Development, a subsidiary of the Jiesheng Group, have jointly secured funding from Taiwan's National Development Council (NDC) under the 'AI+ Industrial Intelligence Co-Creation Demonstration Program.' This initiative will first deploy a 5G x AI-RAN smart geothermal power plant at two major geothermal sites—Sihuangziping and Liuhuangzi—in the Jinshan geothermal zone of New Taipei City, marking the first such facility in Taiwan.
Vivian Chu, Chief Business Officer of Taiwan Mobile, stated on the 18th that this power plant serves as the first demonstration site for Taiwan Mobile’s AI service platform. The platform has already established system integration with 14 partner organizations and has generated NT$35 million in industrial output value.
Chu emphasized that Taiwan Mobile plays a pivotal role in orchestrating an ecosystem by integrating multiple partners to deliver AI-powered operation and maintenance services for large-scale facilities. The collaboration with Jieyuan Energy marks the platform’s inaugural real-world deployment. Moving forward, the modular AI architecture validated at this geothermal site will be extended to other industries, including semiconductors, petrochemicals, and manufacturing.
Taiwan Mobile explained that the geothermal power plant integrates 5G private networks, Edge AI, IoT sensors, and AR-enabled remote maintenance. Applications such as intelligent巡检, energy optimization analytics, and generative AI-based operational support systems have improved inspection efficiency by over 20% and increased summer power generation efficiency by 5%.
The company further unveiled its '6+2 Innovative Applications.' The six smart applications include: AI-powered security alerting for unmanned plants, autonomous inspection robot dogs, geothermal equipment and energy optimization analysis, AIoT-controlled mist cooling, AR visual diagnostics with predictive maintenance alerts, and a generative AI assistant for operational Q&A. The two foundational infrastructure components are: a 5G private network integrated with AI-RAN architecture, and an AI-driven industrial control command center with comprehensive safety monitoring.
Hsu Sheng-kai, Special Assistant to the Chairman of Jieyuan Energy, noted that both geothermal plants are already commercially operational. If progress remains favorable, the AI platform will gradually be introduced to the Chingshui Geothermal Plant in Yilan County.
Beyond domestic implementation, Taiwan Mobile has achieved international traction. It has successfully deployed smart security solutions in Indonesia and Thailand, securing tangible orders. Additionally, it has signed MOUs with German firms to export 5G private network and O-RAN architectures.
