According to a report by Politico, Chinese President Xi Jinping will not travel to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly or deliver a speech during his upcoming visit to the United States next month.

Citing four anonymous sources, Politico reported that Xi plans a three-day visit to the US, with one source indicating that the meeting with Trump is scheduled for September 24.

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not immediately responded to requests for comment.

Previously, there was speculation that Xi might use the US trip to attend the UN General Assembly in New York and meet with other world leaders. Trump had invited Xi to visit the US during his own trip to Beijing in May.

The US and China attempted to stabilize their bilateral relationship during a spring summit earlier this year, which had deteriorated over issues including trade, technology, and Taiwan. Although no major agreements were reached at the summit, Xi described Trump's visit to Beijing as a 'historic' milestone in US-China relations.
