The Taiwan stock market opened lower today (19th) and traded below the flat line throughout the session. Pressured by weak performance in electronics stocks, the index plunged at one point to 44,308 points. By the close, the decline slightly narrowed, ending down 589.33 points at 44,719.35—losing both the 10-day and quarterly moving averages. Trading volume also declined to NT$847.8 billion, markedly lower than yesterday's trillion-level turnover.
Heavyweight stocks broadly declined today. TSMC (2330-TW)(TSM-US) fell over 1%, closing at NT$2,350. MediaTek (2454-TW), Delta Electronics (2308-TW), Hon Hai (2317-TW), ASE Holding (3711-TW), and TPSC (2383-TW) all dropped between 1% and 5%, weighing heavily on the broader market.

In contrast, passive component stocks regained investor favor. Nippon Electric Works (3090-TW) and Sunlord Electronics (6173-TW) both hit their daily trading limits, rising sharply. Walsin Technology (2492-TW) rebounded over 5%, while Miwang Real (8043-TW) and Holset (3026-TW) gained more than 3%. Industry leader Yageo (2327-TW) closed flat for the day.
