Taiwan-based restaurant chain Wattanapanit (2729-TW) announced today (20th) the opening of BOBO Thai, a new brand concept, in Silver Lake, Los Angeles—its second U.S. location after Very Thai by Wattanapanit. The store is now officially operational.

Wattanapanit explained that BOBO Thai is the first restaurant brand in the U.S. market to center entirely on Thai stir-fried rice noodles (Pad Thai). Designed specifically for California consumers, the menu launches with 12 uniquely flavored Thai-style main dishes.

Wattanapanit Chairman Hsu Cheng-yi stated that BOBO Thai breaks the traditional, one-dimensional perception of Pad Thai. The brand chose Silver Lake, a culturally iconic neighborhood in Los Angeles, for its inaugural U.S. location due to the area’s vibrant mix of art, music, distinctive dining, and independent boutiques—making it a popular lifestyle hub among creatives and younger demographics.

BOBO Thai operates as a standalone street-side store, featuring an additional courtyard at the rear to extend indoor dining space. The restaurant serves late into the night and has commissioned multiple original artworks from local artists to create a lively, colorful, and street-inspired atmosphere.

Financially, Wattanapanit reported a post-tax net profit of NT$148 million in the first half of the year, down 15.53% year-on-year, with earnings per share (EPS) at NT$3.47. July’s consolidated revenue reached NT$506 million, down 4.73% month-on-month and 0.91% year-on-year. Cumulative consolidated revenue for the first seven months totaled NT$3.796 billion, up 6.54% year-on-year.
