Anbang Biotech Signs Collaborative Research Agreement with University of Tokyo Veterinary Surgery Lab to Expand Human Clinical Indications for ABT-301

Anbang Biotech (7784-TW) today (24th) announced the signing of a collaborative research agreement with the Veterinary Surgery Laboratory at the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, University of Tokyo. The two parties will utilize veterinary oncology models to evaluate the efficacy of Anbang’s ABT-301 in various solid tumors and expand its clinical indications for human use.

Anbang stated that, using the University of Tokyo’s models, it will assess the efficacy of ABT-301 (Imofinostat), a selective Class I HDAC inhibitor, in multiple solid tumors, including osteosarcoma, melanoma, soft tissue sarcoma, bladder cancer, and other solid tumors.

The company highlighted that the core strategic goal of this collaboration is to build sufficient scientific evidence to support the future expansion of ABT-301’s human clinical indications and to optimize the compound’s combination therapy strategy prior to future clinical trials.

Anbang further noted that it will use the University of Tokyo’s unique preclinical models to evaluate ABT-301 as a monotherapy and in combination with other drugs, conducting comprehensive mechanistic analyses to identify the most predictive molecular backgrounds for efficacy. The research findings will directly guide the selection of indications and the design of combination regimens in future human clinical trials.

Anbang explained that ABT-301 is currently undergoing a Phase 1/2 clinical trial in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors and anti-angiogenic agents for the treatment of pMMR/non-MSI-H metastatic colorectal cancer.

Chairman Hsu Tsu-An stated, 'Through this collaboration, we aim to evaluate ABT-301 in models that more closely mimic real disease environments, building scientifically translatable evidence to support future expansion into new indications and clinical development decisions. We also aim to systematically assess ABT-301’s therapeutic potential across a range of treatment-resistant solid tumors, extending its clinical promise beyond the current colorectal cancer program.'
