Taiwan's stock market closed at 48,024.60 today, down 132.69 points. It recorded its second consecutive weekly gain, rising 843.85 points for the week, with a total trading volume of NT$736.623 billion. Ahead of the Mid-Autumn long holiday, the three major institutional investors collectively sold off NT$43.872 billion, with foreign investors accounting for NT$33.8 billion in net selling, ending their five-day buying streak. The main targets were AUO (80,000 lots) and Powerchip (43,000 lots).

Analyzing today’s movements of the three major institutional investors, they collectively sold off NT$43.872 billion. Foreign investors, investment trusts, and proprietary traders all stood on the selling side. Foreign investors sold off NT$33.8 billion, shifting from buying to selling. Investment trusts sold off NT$11.41 billion, marking their third consecutive day of net selling. Proprietary traders bought NT$1.34 billion, achieving their sixth consecutive day of net buying.

Foreign investors heavily bought 64,000 units of 00403A (Active United Upgrade 50), 36,000 units of 00981A (Active United Taiwan Growth), and 18,000 shares of Nan Ya Plastics. They also increased positions in Nanya Technology (15,000 lots), 00409A (Active Fuhua Global 50, 13,000 lots), and 00991A (Active Fuhua Future 50, 9,670 lots). Additionally, they purchased 8,256 shares of Jia Jing, 7,873 shares of Wistron, 6,335 units of 00402A (Active Allianz U.S. Tech), and 6,291 units of 009828 (CTBC Taiwan-Japan-Korea PCB ETF).

On the selling side, foreign investors dumped 80,000 lots of AU Optronics, 43,000 lots of Powerchip, and 36,000 units of 00406A (Active CTBC Taiwan Income). They also sold 35,000 lots of United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), 31,000 lots of Yuanta Taiwan Top 50 ETF, 24,000 lots of Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn), 20,000 lots of Nanya Technology, 19,000 lots of Wooyi, 18,000 lots of Winbond Electronics, and 14,000 lots of China Airlines.

Investment trusts primarily bought 5,571 shares of China Airlines, 4,165 shares of EVA Airways, and 3,052 shares of Yuanta Financial Holding. They also increased holdings in Sunplus Semiconductor (2,309 shares), Van-Fu Financial (2,057 shares), Hsing Fu Hsia Development (1,799 shares), CTBC Financial Holding (1,768 shares), Cathay Financial Holding (1,604 shares), Crystek (1,179 shares), and 1,000 units of 00929 (Fubon Taiwan Tech Dividend ETF).

On the sell side, investment trusts reduced positions in UMC (9,471 shares), Nan Ya Plastics (5,067 shares), and Nanya Technology (2,361 shares). They also sold 2,176 shares of ASE Group, 1,998 shares of Yuanta Financial Holding, 1,013 shares of TSMC, 954 shares of Wistron, 927 shares of Mitac, 740 shares of TECO Electric, and 597 units of 00935 (Nomura Taiwan New Tech 50 ETF).
