Survey on Interest and Intentions Regarding Spot Work in Childcare Settings

As labor shortages among nursery teachers and kindergarten staff continue, 'spot work'—short-term, single-day jobs—is gaining attention.株式会社NEXER and the job information site for nursery/kindergarten teachers 'enmikke!' conducted a survey of those considering employment or having experience in the childcare sector regarding their interest in this flexible work style.

### Survey Overview Methodology: Internet survey. Duration: May 1, 2026 – May 9, 2026. Target: Individuals considering employment or with experience in the childcare sector across Japan. Effective responses: 44 samples.

### Key Findings 1. Awareness of Spot Work: 59.1% reported they are aware of the concept. 2. Sources of Awareness: 46.2% learned about it through job posting sites. 3. Interest in Childcare Spot Work: 54.5% expressed interest. While some remain cautious due to the weight of responsibility, there is significant interest. 4. Reasons for Interest: 'Ease of starting' was the top reason (66.7%), followed by the desire for 'prior workplace assessment' and 'flexibility for those unable to work full-time' (33.3% each). Spot work is being seen as a trial phase before permanent employment. 5. Information for Peace of Mind: To feel confident, applicants prioritized the 'daily schedule' (66.7%), 'workplace atmosphere' (58.3%), and 'staff personality' (41.7%).

These results confirm that flexible employment styles like spot work could act as an effective gateway to attract potential talent to the childcare sector.
