NHK Culture to Host Online Lecture Series "Two Thousand Years of Runes ~Introduction to Runes~"

NHK Culture Center Kyoto Classroom is organizing an online lecture series on the history of Rune characters. Professor Minoru Ozawa of Rikkyo University, an expert in Western Medieval History, Nordic History, and Historiography, will deliver the lectures. The series, named "Two Thousand Years of Runes ~Introduction to Runes~," will take place on May 19, June 9, July 14, August 11, September 8, and October 13, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM JST. The participation fee is 21,120 JPY (tax included). Professor Ozawa, born in 1973, has authored several academic works on runes and Nordic history, including 'Introduction to Rune Studies' and 'The Complete Poetic Edda,' and served as a historical consultant for the TV anime 'Vinland Saga'. Registration is available through the NHK Culture website, and on-demand viewing will be provided.
