Tanka, a poetic form expressing thoughts and feelings within the limited 31 syllables, is currently experiencing a quiet boom, especially among young people.

This is good news for those interested in tanka through various media such as social media.

A little tanka for your daily life.

This is a small tanka course held for three consecutive months.

In the first half of each session, we will introduce the latest contemporary tanka and tips for writing tanka.

In the latter half, we will read together the tanka submitted in advance.

Not only those who love tanka, but also those who are new to tanka are very welcome!

●Instructor Profile

Minami Ishikawa (born 1980) Active in coterie magazines 'pool' and '[sai]', as well as 'Samayoeru Kajin no Kai' and 'Yagi no Ki'. Tanka collections include 'Suna no Furu Kyoshitsu', 'Urashima', 'Hanarejima', 'Kakuusen', 'Tainai Hiko'. Received the 1st Tsukamoto Kunio Award in 2020. Has served as a selection committee member for the Tanka Kenkyu Newcomer Award since 2023. Hobbies include collecting 'stories that didn't happen'. Likes South Indian curry. Said to resemble a sloth among animals.
