At the regular press conference today, NHK Chairman Inouye shared his remarks:

NHK has agreed with Netflix to begin global distribution of popular past works, including Taiga dramas and serialized TV novels, starting next month, June. For fiscal year 2026, 19 titles such as 'Manpuku' and 'Gunshi Kanbei' will be provided. This is part of NHK's aggressive strategy to strengthen its 'content development, transmission, and international expansion capabilities.' Localization will be handled by Netflix.

Furthermore, for the 'FIFA World Cup 2026,' NHK will provide its largest-ever broadcast and streaming coverage. All matches involving the Japan national team will be broadcast live on terrestrial and BS, while all 104 matches will be aired on BS Premium 4K. The 'NHK ONE' internet service will offer simultaneous and catch-up streaming, along with a special website. Chairman Inouye also noted the importance of exploring new delivery forms, including collaboration with streaming providers.

Finally, he announced that 'Giken Kokai' and 'TECH EXPO' will be held simultaneously from May 28 (Thursday) to May 31 (Sunday).
