According to Article 64 of the Broadcasting Act, those who install reception equipment capable of receiving broadcasts from the association must conclude a reception contract with the association. If a car navigation system has the function to receive broadcasts, it is subject to the reception contract.
We have been asking each local government to confirm the installation status of televisions and other reception devices annually, and have been informing them that a reception contract is necessary if car navigation systems or mobile phones have the function to receive broadcasts.
However, considering that there have been many cases of failure to report reception contracts from local governments across the country, we recognize that there were points where the explanation for understanding the necessary procedures was insufficient. For this reason, we have thoroughly renewed pamphlets and websites for businesses since last October.
In the future, we will continue to make efforts to provide careful guidance so that the reception fee system can be properly understood.
【NHK Comment】
We will continue to promote specific examinations of the revision of the contract unit for businesses and the handling of emergency vehicles, etc., while considering the consistency with the current system and the fairness among businesses.
