Syn Co., Ltd. (hereinafter Syn), which has shaped the way "sound" connects brands, spaces, and people for 35 years, is moving to a new stage following its rebranding.
Born in Tokyo in 1991 under a bold creative vision, the company will now begin its next chapter as "Nick Wood Music." While inheriting everything built up to now, it aims for further evolution.
Founded on Friendship and Vision Syn was co-founded by its founder, Nick Wood, along with Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon and Yasmin Le Bon. The shared belief that music can transcend existing industry structures and function as a higher-order creative force is Syn's origin and has shaped its ambitions. Simon has also been involved in various company projects since its founding.
A Track Record of Defining "Sound" for 35 Years For over 35 years, Syn has produced a wide range of works, including advertising, film and television, sound branding, live events, and spatial acoustic design.
Clients include Toyota, Lexus, Sony, Shiseido, CNN, Ferrari, Disney, Claridge's (hotel), Amazon Japan, and Mastercard.
Major achievements include Kirin's World Cup official song (2002), the Emmy Award-winning CNN campaign (2017), the Cannes Lions Bronze-winning Mountain Dew advertisement (2025), and winning Gold and the Music and Sound Design category at ADFEST (Asia Pacific Advertising Festival) (2026).
Additionally, Nick Wood has worked on music production related to the Osaka Expo, music production for NHK and Disney+ works, and sound identities for global brands such as Tatcha and Disney.
