NIDEK Launches "Intelligent Blocker ICE-2" Compatible with New Lens Processing Machines

NIDEK Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Motoo Ozawa) will launch the "Intelligent Blocker ICE-2" (hereinafter ICE-2) on Friday, May 1.

When making eyeglasses at an optical store, raw lenses are ground by a lens processing machine to match the shape of the frame (*1).

To ensure correct power when the eyeglasses are completed, the center position determined by the frame shape must be aligned with the optical center of the raw lens. Therefore, as a pre-process before attaching the raw lens to the lens processing machine, a task called blocking (hereinafter blocking) is performed, which involves attaching a dedicated component according to the center position.

The ICE-2, launched today, is a device that can perform not only blocking but also the necessary editing during processing (*2). In addition to the automatic decentration calculation and shape data storage functions installed in our conventional model (*3), it can also edit all shape data used for processing with our new lens processing machines MSE-1/ME-1 (*4).

Furthermore, the flexible lens holder, which was an option in the conventional model (*3), is now standard equipment, allowing for more accurate blocking by fixing the lens block surface horizontally. In addition, the inclusion of a drawer that can store small items necessary for blocking contributes to improved work efficiency.
