On June 5, 2026, nine founding organizations, including the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), the Environmental Restoration and Conservation Agency (ERCA), and the ECHONET Consortium, established the Consortium for Heatstroke Countermeasures. Due to worsening summer heat caused by climate change, the consortium aims to reduce heatstroke risks and social implementation of solutions. Activities include joint research, public awareness, and global expansion of Japan's countermeasures. The consortium is supported by the Ministry of the Environment. Additionally, the Fiscal Year 2026 Heatstroke Seminar, 'Toward Promoting Heatstroke Countermeasures through Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration,' will be held online for free on June 10, 2026, from 13:30 to 16:00, organized by the Climate Change Adaptation Center of NIES. For inquiries, contact [email protected]. Press inquiries should go to [email protected]. NIES serves as the administrative secretariat. Cooperating partners and founders aim to share government policies, research, and corporate initiatives.
