The Engineering Education Research Institute (IR) is hosting a public seminar to help engineers master practical skills for interpreting and mitigating 'vibration' in rotating machinery—such as compressors, blowers, pumps, engines, and motors—within a single day.

While vibration is a critical indicator of a machine's health, mechanical engineers in the field often lack systematic opportunities to learn how to determine 'what level of vibration is abnormal' and 'how to reduce vibration values.' This often leads to missed signs of anomalies and over-reliance on external experts, resulting in risks of equipment shutdown or failure.

This seminar supports the improvement of practical judgment and troubleshooting skills by teaching everything from the theory of vibration generation and management values to concrete balancing procedures.

Course Details

This course covers the basics of rotating machinery vibration (free vibration, forced vibration, frequency response, etc.) and vibration management criteria, including tolerance and abnormality limits. The latter half focuses on balancing work as a vibration reduction measure, involving practical exercises in the multi-point method, three-point method, and influence coefficient method. Participants will also experience numerical calculations using Excel's complex number operations to build applied skills for field use.
