The Japan-Taiwan Tourism Promotion Association (Chairman: Masanobu Komoda, Secretariat: Japan Travel and Tourism Association, Japan Association of Travel Agents) and its Taiwanese partner, the Taiwan-Japan Tourism Promotion Association (Chairman: Chien Yu-yen, Secretariat: Taiwan Visitors Association), will hold the '2026 Japan-Taiwan Tourism Summit in Miaoli' in Miaoli County, Taiwan, for four days from May 28th to May 31st.

Overview Dates: May 28 (Thu) – May 31 (Sun), 2026 Location: Miaoli County, Taiwan Organizers: Japan-Taiwan Tourism Promotion Association, Taiwan-Japan Tourism Promotion Association Participants: Approximately 200 individuals from local governments, transportation companies, travel agencies, and tourism-related organizations in Japan and Taiwan.
2. Summit Theme 'Towards Tourism That Is Slow, Deep, and Mutually Enhancing: Aiming for a New Future in Japan-Taiwan Tourism'
3. Background The Japan-Taiwan Tourism Summit was first held in Taipei in 2008 as a forum for tourism stakeholders from both sides to gather and discuss reciprocal tourism exchange. Although canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been held alternately in Japan and Taiwan annually. In 2025, it was held in Tottori Prefecture, coinciding with the launch of Tigerair Taiwan's direct flight between Yonago Airport and Taipei, leading to the signing of the Tottori Declaration to promote balanced exchange.
