Itoigawa-Joetsu-Myoko SEA TO SUMMIT 2026
The Joetsu Regional SEA TO SUMMIT Executive Committee (Secretariat: Niigata Prefecture Joetsu Regional Promotion Bureau) will host the environmental sports event 'Itoigawa-Joetsu-Myoko SEA TO SUMMIT 2026' on July 18 (Sat) and 19 (Sun), 2026. Entries have been open since May 15 (Fri), 2026.
### About SEA TO SUMMIT This is an environmental sports event organized by outdoor manufacturer Montbell in collaboration with municipalities across Japan. By traveling from the sea (kayak) to the village (bicycle) and then to the mountain summit (hike) using only human power, participants are encouraged to contemplate natural cycles and the value of nature. The event is scheduled to be held in 12 regions nationwide in fiscal year 2026.
### Highlights of the Joetsu Event Now in its 5th year, this event is characterized by the geography where the sea and mountains are in close proximity. The 49km course starts from Nou Beach by kayak, continues by bicycle along the Kubiki Cycle Road, and ends at the summit of Samegao Castle ruins. It is not a race, and team relay participation is possible, making it accessible to a wide range of people.

Lecture 'My Style 'Outdoor Life'' by Hiroshi Nojima, a former Japan Paralympic chair-ski representative. - Day 2: July 19 (Sun) Activities - Sea stage (kayak): approx. 6km - Village stage (bicycle): approx. 41km - Mountain stage (hike): approx. 2km - Total distance: approx. 49km
